I just saw The Lovely Bones. Felt tense the whole way through even though I’ve read the book so know what happens. Definitely worth seeing at the movie theatre. Watch the trailer below, or go to Apple’s website for clips from the film.

If you missed the Nom*D film shown as part of Fashion Week, watch it here! Nom*D are my absolute favourite New Zealand label, and I’m loving how a few of the labels are showing films this year – it’s a great way to show not only the entire collection, but to also convey the mood and meaning behind the collection.

Instead of a traditional runway show, this film by Kirsty Cameron was shown, accompanied by a few models wearing pieces from the latest collection.

Music and beer are perfect companions, and now Becks have taken that one step further with these limited edition bottles designed by Ladyhawke. Ladyhawke used illustrations by her best friend, Sarah Lanarch, who has created much of Ladyhawke’s artwork including the cover of the eponymous album. Here is an interview with Ladyhawke and Sarah about how they met.

Linos is a portable USB record player designed by Charles Pyott that is small enough to fit in a pocket. The record is attached to the player, which is then plugged into a USB port or audio jack. It appears that it is only a concept at the moment, but if it existed I’d love to have one, my records have been neglected since I moved and no longer have enough space for my turntables and mixer! After seeing what some of the OpenFrameworks guys have done, I’m a fan of projections onto buildings. I came across this today and thought that is was amazing, particularly the crumbling / deconstructing buildings. It turns out this video is a concept created in After Effects, but the second video is of one of their live projections. More info here.

I wish I owned a house so I could paint fixings or a wall using blackboard paint.

Typeface designers put a race car driver in a Toyota iQ and tracked the movement of the car using an application created in Open Frameworks by Zach Lieberman. The results were them turned into a typeface which can be downloaded here.
