I am no longer involved in training to play roller derby as I’ve realised that I quite value my unbroken bones – imagine if I broke my fingers and was unable to type! However I am still interested in the sport and am glad to see it becoming more high profile and receiving more coverage. The New York Times has recently covered the 2008 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s national championship game and profiled some of the players. My favourite roller derby video has been removed from You Tube, but here is one from my (awesome and way more talented than me at roller skating) local league, the Pirate City Rollers.
