MGMT + Gucci

MGMT and Gucci

Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand, so certainly isn’t something new, especially with recent years seeing bands playing at runway shows: The Horrors opening a Hedi Slimane show, Karl Lagerfield styling a Chanel show based on Amy Winehouse, and in New Zealand Adrian Hailwood having Mean Street play at his Fashion Week show last year and Bionic Pixie play at this years show.

Now Frida Giannini, creative director at Gucci, has based Gucci’s Spring 2009 for Men collection on the look and sound of Brooklyn’s MGMT. It seems as though it isn’t a collaboration between Gucci and MGMT, instead Giannini simply being influenced by the band, but the cut and colours of the collection seem to be a perfect collaboration between the looks of Gucci and MGMT. I’d like to hear MGMT’s thoughts on the collection!
